Have taken just under 100 rabbits from this wee field this summer and they are starting to get much harder to get close too - especially in the stubble! A few farmyard rats shot from 5yds out to 55yds using a .177 HW100 with MTC scope, Pard NV007 and Laserworks range finder. Rats are spotted using a Pulsar Axion Key thermal and shot off Mjoelner Carbon Quadsticks. Look out for the roof rats folks, always freaks me out when I see them way up there!

Short session at a local pony stables with a recent influx of rats, so cold though they would barely leave their holes! A few rats from the last 3 sessions on two neighbouring properties, shot with my HW100KS in .177, spotting with thermal and using a Pard 007 NV. I don't know how many rats I shot in this video but there must be at least 75 - I'm sure someone will count them for me. Shooting rats at a regular spot, I was mostly spotting for a mate to shoot with his sub 12 but I had my FAC Rapid out for some of the further shots. These were all taken using FX Slugs at 41 to 59 yards, as you can see, when they hit the spot they really do the job, not as accurate as JSB King Heavies though, and I will be swapping back to them for the Squirrel's in the coming weeks.

Short session on some stubborn rats that have stopped responding to other control methods, lots of stuff in this shed so had to be careful with shot placement and backstops but a decent result in the end! All big full grown rats apart from the half grown grey at the start.

Excellent shooting for sub-12, what would you say is the idea distance for clean kills and maximum distance in yards under still conditions? The NV007V is not LRF, so what were you using to range? Also, 100 with rabbits form a relatively small area, do you think the rabbits learn that the faint pop of the HW100K, means danger or even they are picking up the lever pull sound and know it means death? You mentioned they were harder to stalk.
Anything out to 50yd is pretty straightforward in calm conditions, rabbits get harder to get close to once they’ve been shot over a few times, especially in areas with little or no human activity from day to day, they are very sensitive to any noise and even vibrations from your footsteps and of course your scent, the pellet strike itself is the loudest part of the shot with the HW100 so with any group of rabbits you get into range of always shoot the furthest away one first and often the others will run towards your position. @@GAZ5570 Thats a good tip on shooting the furthest away rabbit first. I have a lot where I am, but I don't intend to shoot, unless I am going to eat. Head shoot the odd pheasant for the pot. Wolf LRF looks like a good idea, I guess it's not too awkward/heavy on the HW100 along side the Pard 007. Built in LRF unites are expensive for what they are. If something goes wrong with a unit, having the LRF separate, can keep equipment from going in the bin. many thanks.

Longest shot in this video is 57yd, when there no wind anything out to 60 is pretty easy

Good shot! Have you ever tried stalking pheasants with a .177, say, like your HW100 and take them with head shots? It's a mega stalking outing, plenty of skill required. I haven't tried it yet myself, I just wondered if you ever have, as you're quite an experienced hunter.

007V 850nm, IR light doesn’t bother foxes if you only show them it once 😂

I use the onboard IR, it’s not the best on the Swaro but on a decent night it’s a 200 yard unit easily, on a cheaper scope it’s a bit further than that.

Good video pal. Not much muzzle flip there for a .243 I loose my bastard sight picture with my .243 Howa 😳 Just started using a CZ 17 Hornet and it's a dream; it ain't going to buck the wind, but it's a pleasure to shoot and knocks Charlie flat at 200 yards no problem... very quiet too.

yours are the best ratting videos amongst many on YT , just pure action no bla bla and commercials. Plus you own the best PCP gun out there the HK100. 0.177 is the perfect cal for rats 0.22 is a bit overkill in my opinion.
Subscribed. Maybe it's because of the good close-up camera work, but those look like some hefty rats. That 3rd one, lurking under the pallet, was a biggie. Great shooting and viewer doesn't have to wait long on the shot, which I like a lot.
